Shoal Bay Bar Crossing Web Camera

Information iconWhen planning a bar crossing or going offshore, you should carefully consider the suitability of your vessel to handle the conditions.

Shoal Bay (Port Stephens) extends westward for about 11 miles, with a breadth of from 1-3 miles; it has an area of approximately 100 sq km, with adequate depth for a wide range of vessels.

Several streams run into the inlet, the principal ones being Karuah River, at the north-western head, and the Myall River, which empties itself through the northern shore 3 miles within the entrance, and is the outlet for the large Myall Lakes which extend parallel to the shore for 25 miles to the north. The entire area is popular for an assortment of boating.
