24 hours a day 7 days a week from Saturday, 14 April 2012 to Saturday, 13 April 2013
THE EVENT
Vessel operators are advised that Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) has declared that the above event, which is to be held on Port Stephens marked by yellow buoys, 24 hours a day 7 days a week from 14 April 2012 to 13 April 2013, is a Special Event pursuant to Section 12(2) of the Marine Safety Act 1998.
SPECIAL EVENT & EXCLUSIVE USE AREA
Due to the potential to affect the safety of navigation, RMS has granted an Exclusive Use Aquatic Licence to Nickolas Zappis T/A Nelson Bay Jet Ski Hire to conduct the event, and a Special Event/Exclusive Use Area (‘the Area’) will be established on the navigable waters of Port Stephens as depicted in the attached diagram. The Area forms a triangle and is bounded by;
- A line between South Cardinal Lateral Marker 005 (GPS co-ordinates 32º 42’ 205S; 152º 09’ 451E) extending southwest to Starboard Lateral Marker 006 (GPS co-ordinates 32º 42’ 559S; 152º 09’ 001E);
- A line drawn due north from Starboard Lateral Marker 006 to an unmarked point at GPS co-ordinates 32º 42’ 205S; 152º 09’ 070E; then
- A line drawn due east from the point specified in (b) above, to South Cardinal Lateral Marker 005.
DIRECTIONS
RMS advises that in relation to the Area:
- Persons within the vicinity of the Area must comply with any directions given by a Boating Safety Officer or Police Officer in relation to the Special Event or to marine safety. Failure to comply with any such direction is an offence (Marine Safety Act 1998, s.15A - Maximum Penalty $3,300.00).
- No unauthorised vessels are permitted to enter the Area and to do so may be an offence (Marine Safety Act 1998, s.12(6) — Maximum Penalty $1,100.00)
