Application tips

Application TipsAll vacant positions are advertised on this website and the NSW Government website at www.jobs.nsw.gov.au. We also advertise positions on Seek, My Career, Career One and Indigenous News, as well as some regional newspapers.

When you see a position you would like to apply for:

  1. Read the job description carefully to see if you have the skills and experience required for the job
  2. Read the selection criteria and think about how your skills and experience match what is required
  3. Read the information pack for some useful information on applying for jobs at NSW Maritime
  4. Speak with the contact officer about the job- they may have important information which may help you determine whether you would be a suitable applicant
  5. Write your application-respond to each selection criteria separately ensuring that you demonstrate your suitability against each one
  6. Prepare a covering letter stating why you are interested in the job
  7. Attach a current resume with two work related referees and their contact details
  8. Check the presentation of your application making sure it is easy to read and there are no mistakes
  9. Send your application by the closing date to the address provided
