Lake Macquarie Mooring Management Plan

Lake Macquarie is a large coastal lake located south of Newcastle and approximately 120 kilometres north of Sydney. A Mooring Management Plan for Lake Macquarie was developed in conjunction with the community and relevant government agencies.

A draft Plan was on public display during August and October 2001 and a subsequent period during December 2001 and March 2002. Following evaluation of comments received and extensive community consultation, the Lake Macquarie Mooring Management Plan has now been finalised.

For a majority of boat owners on Lake Macquarie there will no change to their existing mooring areas.

The moratorium that was placed on issuing moorings while the Plan was finalised has now been lifted. Applications for a mooring licence in areas that have been closed will be accepted from Tuesday 1 July 2003.
