THE WORKS
Vessel operators are advised that sub-surface tests are being undertaken from 24 January 2012 for a 2 year period in the navigable waters off Burwood Beach, Newcastle. Nine (9) lit yellow “Special Marker” buoys will be moored at the following coordinates;

- Approximate position -32 58.163S 151 45.104E
- Approximate position -32 58.128S 151 45.168E
- Approximate position -32 57.978S 151 45.356E
- Approximate position -32 58.020S 151 45.364E
- Approximate position -32 57.402S 151 46.040E
- Approximate position -32 58.209S 151 45.076E
- Approximate position -32 58.369S 151 44.896E
- Approximate position -32 58.981S 151 44.472E
NAVIGATION WARNING
Vessel operators are advised to exercise extreme caution when navigating in the vicinity of the marker buoys as they form part of a monitoring study being conducted by Hunter Water Corporation.
DIRECTIONS
Roads and Maritime Services advises that in relation to the works;
a) Persons within the vicinity of the works must comply with any directions given by a Boating Safety Officer or Police Officer in relation to the works or to marine safety. Failure to comply with any such direction is an offence (Marine Safety Act 1998, s.15A - Maximum Penalty $3,300.00).
b) Vessels are required to maintain a safe distance and speed from the works and operators are reminded that the production of wash which impacts unreasonably on the works is an offence (Marine Safety (General) Regulation – clause 9) - Maximum Penalty $5,500.00)
